Surgical Ablation Techniques:intraoperative Radiofrequency Chateter Ablation (mono-bipolar)
Dr. Kaan KIRALİa
aKalp-Damar Cerrahisi Kliniği, Kartal Koşuyolu Yüksek İhtisas Eğitim ve Araştırma Hastanesi, İSTANBUL Endocardial (monopolar) or epicardial (bipolar) approach can be selected for radiofrequency ablation surgery. If left atriotomy is used, then monopolar approach can be easier to apply. Especially, bipolar epicardial ablation can be used very effectively in patients undergoing off-pump cardiac surgery. There are some complications related to these approaches, but we see very seldom in daily practice. The rate of procedural success after operation is higher than 80%, but to continue of sinus rhythm decreases a little after discharge from hospital. The restoration of sinus rhythm is higher than 70% after one year follow-up.Keywords: Ablation, atrial fibrillation, bipolar, monopolar, radiofrequencyTurkiye Klinikleri J Cardiovasc Surg-Spiecal Topics 2008, 1:45-48
