But after 2000’s, it has gained popularity again when atrial fibrillation is successfully treated with concomitant surgery. The source of attraction of the surgeons for the treatment of atrial fibrillation depends on the increased risk of stroke and death due to this arrhythmia. While monopolar was the choice previously, nowadays bipolar ablation is the preferred ablation technique due to many advantages. Surgical ablation techniques are still in development. Even concomitant surgery with coronary by-pass in encouraging, the studies are limited and further researches are needed. Keywords: Coronary artery bypass; catheter ablationTurkiye Klinikleri J Cardiovasc Surg-Spiecal Topics 2008, 1:66-69
